I started blogging only a mere two months ago. I have learned so much in the past two months that by now you would think that I would know how to get what I want out of the Internet, but, it appears, I still have no clue! My main way of generating traffic so far has been by adding every post to multiple Social Book-marking websites. I don’t know everything about the online world, and how to attract traffic, but I know enough that my method isn’t working very well, and, that there are other ways out there. I simply have to figure it out on my own.
One thing that I didn’t think I would have to work for very hard was comments on my blog. Again, it turns out that I was wrong. In the past 2 months that my blog has been alive, I have received a total of about 10 comments. I still don’t know what I have to do to get you readers to leave a comment, but I will figure it out.
As the post title states, this post is my way of finding out just how many Diggs it takes to get to the front page. I see everyday stories with 3,000 Diggs, so I click the link, and it’s some off the wall thing that isn’t interesting at all. Why do those stories get 3,000 Diggs in a few hours, and nothing on my page has more than about 40, and that’s after shouting to everybody and getting called a spammer. Perhaps there is some secret society that I need to join in Digg in order to get my stories to the top.
If you are reading this, and you have received multiple shouts of the same story on Digg, I apologize! I am new to all of this, and I am just desperate to get my blog noticed. From now on, you don’t have to worry about me shouting the same story any more than once.
This post will receive a follow up, with the results of what it takes to get to the top of Digg. That’s if it makes the front page. I am confident that all of you out there will help me to do this. It’s my little experiment, to help me know what I need to do when I write a post that I want to get out to a lot of people. Perhaps, if I can get this story Dugg enough, and to the front page, I’ll wind up with more regular readers of my blog.
If you think that this is a stupid attempt, please, leave a comment stating why you think it is, along with a suggestion of what you think I should do. All comments must be approved before they are published, so don’t just leave a flame comment, it will not be published. Negative comments are welcome, but, as I stated, simply tell me what you think I should do.

I definitely classify this as digg spam.
Of course it’s spam, apparently everything I do on Digg is spam. It’s perfectly okay for everybody else to promote their sites or blogs on Digg, but not me. If I shout anything, it’s spam according to you and others of the same caliber. If you read this, shout to me on Digg, and I’ll remove you from my friends’ list. Sorry for “spamming” your shout box. It seems I still don’t fully understand it yet. I’m working on it though.
Good post. It is very difficult to get good with Digg. You have to basically live on the site and then your site subject must appeal to all the 12 and 13 year olds.
Thanks you, I have to say, I want to agree with you completely about the 12 and 13 year old thing. However, so fare this story has been dugg 34 times. Wonder how many more it will take!
Well, I dugg it, just curious like yourself as I have only been digging and blogging for a short time also. I really liked your little sign attached to your story as photo’s are my thing, very cute. ssphotoshop
I for one didn’t find it easy to locate the post a Comment link.
As far as the wishing to know how many “diggs” it takes to apear on the front page. Why don’t you ask Mr. Rose at digg.com?
I think it’s supposed to be 50 diggs to get to the front page, right? Of course more will probably keep you there longer. Good luck!
Yes, the comment link needs to be easier to find. That might increase comments, BTW Thank you for your comments. I’m not sure if it went to the front page, I’ll be writing another post later on today.
So I must say that I read your blog. It was hard to read due to the colors. have you thought about using different colors. The jumping banner ads and white text just blur together. If you used more earthy tones it might do better for readers. Something Else to do would be to cut down on clutter and use a larger font.
Chris,
First of all, thanks for reading my blog, and commenting. If you’ve read some of the earlier posts, I am switching over to Wordpress. I am going to have a new theme, that makes everything much more organized and easier to read, and since I have had multiple people tell me that the “black” simply doesn’t work for them, the new color scheme will be completely different. The only thing that I’m waiting on right now, is enough money in my account to pay for hosting. Be sure to check back for when I make the switch. I think you are all going to be rather impressed.
