As I stated yesterday, I told you that I would be starting my article marketing campaign. Well, it has begun. I have spent most of the day writing, and spinning. This is got to be the toughest part of gaining traffic yet. I mean, it’s hard enough to come up with a topic for an article, much less to write 600 words or more, and then add the spin syntax to it.

If you don’t know much about article marketing, let me inform you a little bit. Article submission sites such as Associated Content, or E-Zine Articles, are in love with Google. And Google with them. In essence, if you were to go and submit an article titled “How to Write A Poem” and then went to Google and typed in that title, chances are, more than likely, you’re going to see a link to your article on Google’s front page.

What’s the importance of Google? Um, in case you haven’t noticed, Google is pretty much in control of everything that happens on the internet. You never hear people worried about their Ask.com Page rank, or their MSN Page rank. It’s all about the Google PR. On a personal note, I think that Google is in control of the entire world secretly, but, lets not talk about that.

The main way now a days to get traffic, and back links to your site, or blog, is through article marketing. What that means, is that people write articles, include a link, and submit them to several high ranking article sites. People type in those keywords in Google, or simply search the article directory, and read about whatever topic you chose to post on. One article could easily receive 1000 pageviews in one day. That’s with a really good article of course, but, you do get the idea. It’s cheaper, more effective, but much much more annoying than AdWords.

The problem comes in when you have a really great article, and you want to submit it to all of the Article directories you can find, and you either pay for a program to submit your article for you, or you do it manually (NIGHTMARE), and when all is said and done, you wind up with only 1 back-link according to the all mighty Google!

Why is that? It’s called “Duplicate Content” Google doesn’t like the same thing over and over again. That’s why people spin articles. By spinning (rewording) articles, you can get the same overall idea across, and Google doesn’t count it as duplicate content. So, you wind up with a bunch of back-links, as you deserve.

Now, when I say spinning (rewording), I don’t mean you simply reword your article. It’s something called Spin Syntax. It’s very very simple. All you need to do is take a line in your article, and add {|}. Let me give you an example.

Original Article Sentence = Cash Crate is a great program!
Spun Sentence = {Cash Crate is a great program|A great program is Cash Crate}!

Simple, one sentence inside of the { and the | and your other sentence on the other side and end it with a }

Now, what are you supposed to do with your spun article with all of the {’s and |’s?

In viewing Amy’s blog I read about JetSubmitter. I decided to check it out. At this point I didn’t know anything about “spinning” or “syntax” I read around and figured it out. What does JetSubmitter and JetSpinner let me do? Spin my article up to 999 times, and submit to a VERY large list of article directories. I can choose to submit to only 10 directories a day so that it looks more natural to google, but I can also choose to submit to all of the directories all in one day if I wish. Without this, I would have probably of never even thought about starting an article marketing campaign.

Lately, in reading random posts and articles, throughout the web, I’ve noticed the people often complain that it is is nearly impossible to make any money from Helium. Well, I am here to inform you other wise. I will let you in on a few secrets of mine that I have picked up along the way. First off, if you signed up for Helium, and decided that you would write one article, and expect to get paid more than a few cents, you were wrong. The key to helium is the number of articles you submit, along with a few other various things.

As I’m sure you’ve noticed that the title of my blog is “Poetry, Money, and More” Yes, I do make money from my poetry, probably more so than most helium users. The secret lies within knowing how to manipulate the system. No, I’m not talking about hacking, I’m simply talking about Social Bookmarking, such as Digg, StumbleUpon, and Delicious. These networks are basically, nothing more than a way for you to submit content that you find interesting. And they are accessed daily by 10’s upon thousands of people each day. To give you a better idea of just how many people visit Digg.com on a regular basis, let me inform you of this, from time to time, their server gets overloaded because so many users are connected to Digg.com that it just shuts down. StumbleUpon currently has, (If my estimate is right) about 3 million users. Now, let’s say you want to make some money, for doing nothing more than writing either a simple poem, or writing an all out article about a subject that you are knowledgeable about. My venue, is poetry, and that’s why I love Helium. They not only let me submit full on, informative articles, but they also accept my random poetry.

Now, as I’m sure you know, if you’ve tried Helium already, that it gets kind of discouraging the first week or so, you check your earnings, and it says something like, “$0.04. Then you look at the pay out minimum and realize that it’s set at $25, now that doesn’t sound like you’ll reach that any time soon, Well my friend, there’s a little bit more to it than just posting your content.
Just like anything on the internet, you have to promote it.

Helium pays you a few cents every time a new visitor reads your post, therefore, you need to increase the traffic to that URL. In order to do that however, can be an issue if you don’t know where to start.

Let me give you an example of what has worked for me. Stumble Upon is by FAR the greatest social bookmarking programs that I’ve found. I would suggest, if your struggling, go to www.stumbleupon.com and download the extension. Submit your content to Stumble, and voila, there you have it, you will notice a dramatic increase in traffic. Also, what I have been submitting every post to del.icio.us, technorati, and Digg.

Another tip would be to post a blog, and copy half of the article on your blog and then add a link to your helium page so that they can read the rest.

I hope this information helps you. If so, leave me a comment.
